Cassie has an agent!

She has signed with Brittany Booker from the Corvisiero Literary Agency!

The little piggy from Geico is a close second to how I feel about this! And if it wasn't for all the image stealing scariness out there (not even sure I"m doing that one image correctly), I'd have a picture of that squealing piglet along with a million others to try to convey how exciting this is!

So, hop over to Cassie's blog and congratulate her :)

AND, Hanger winners are announced on Falling For Fiction today! Gotta say it again, so impressed with everyone's hookers and hangers! You guys are awesome!

Go on over and check out the hottest hookers :)

Tomorrow, the Hanger winners will be announced.

Magic 8 Ball Meme

Thanks Melissa Maygrove for this fun meme!

Rules for the Magic 8 Ball Meme:1. Post the button and link to Jaycee deLorenzo (following would be nice, but not required).

2.  Share an excerpt from your current WIP, perhaps something you're struggling with, are stuck on, or just can't "get right."

3.  Ask a question about your excerpt.  It can be something easy such as "What do you think?" or something more in-depth, such as "Can you suggest a better way to word such-and-such," or "How can I make the emotions in this scene more realistic?"

4.  Tag 8 people.

These are a few lines from my WiP, Birds of a Feather. Pigeon is at Camp Hope, a camp-like school for troubled teens, where they wear bracelets for entrance into dorms and buildings as a modified attendance and tracking system and to keep kids from losing keys.

*My bracelet holds steady in front of the scanner and the door to my cage, I mean room, pops open.

*He pulls me in the direction of the door and throws his wrist over the sensor sending us into the twilight.

*I run back to my dorm, keeping my head down the entire way, swipe my wrist next to my door and throw myself under the covers.

*My bracelet scans me into my dorm, into my room, into solitude.

*Falcon raises my wrist in front of the scanner to the girls’ floor, then again at my door.

DO THESE MAKE SENSE?

*shakes Magic 8 Ball furiously*

Sending magic to . . .

The Art of Infiltration

Those Hookers and Hangers were awesome! So much fun to read! Now I realize I need to step up my game :) And, I'm going to have the hardest time picking only one hooker and one hanger--my list to narrow down from is huge!

Falling For Fiction Blogfest!

And today, I'm getting interviewed by the lovely Kimberly Gabriel over at her blog The Art of Infiltration. She hosts a Literary Circles interview series and has invited me to be part of it--YAY! So hop on over and check out Kimberly's blog :)

Hangers

Falling For Fiction Blogfest!

The Hookers & Hangers Blogfest is underway!

Monday, the first sentence from each chapter were posted. I had so much fun reading everyone's lines! So much fun!

Today, July 18th, post the last sentence from each chapter.

Post as many as you like!

Falling For Fiction will be judging everyone’s first three HOOKERS and first three HANGERS, each of us picking two winners (MOST ENTICING HOOKER and MOST IMPOSSIBLE HANGER) making a total of ten winners! Winners will receive a 10 page (double spaced) critique and a Friday Spotlight on FFF!

I was thinking my hangers were swear-word-free, but I'm wrong. So, again, Pigeon has a potty mouth. Grab a pair of ear muffs if you need them :)

Here's the pitch for my WiP, Birds of a Feather:

An overdose, meant to get the attention of her parents after her sister’s death, lands Pigeon at Camp Hope with other troubled teens. It’s up to Pigeon to decide if her Aves wings can fly through her cage of anger or if they’re a crock of shit like everything else she ignores there.

And here are the first ten chapter hangers for Pigeon's story:
* Back to hell.
Life sucks. I’m not in control.
“I see plenty of bird brains every day.”
“You first.”
I think I know where I belong.
I watch her run off to her clan members wondering how in the world I’m going to become part of mine.
Camp Hope. Such bullshit.
He knows what I’m about to do.
“We’ll see, won’t we?”
He spins me around, hands warm on my lower back, eyes searching mine, lips so close when he says, “Prove it.”

I hope these hangers left you wanting more!
Now check out how well everyone else lets it hang :)

Hookers

Falling For Fiction Blogfest!

The Hookers & Hangers Blogfest is underway!

Today, July 16th, post the first sentence from each chapter.

On July 18th, post the last sentence from each chapter.

Remember how I said I swear a lot and my new WiP's character, Pigeon, has the mouth of sailor making her fun to write? Well, you've been warned :)

Here is the pitch for my WiP, Birds of a Feather:

An overdose, meant to get the attention of her parents after her sister’s death, lands Pigeon at Camp Hope with other troubled teens. It’s up to Pigeon to decide if her Aves wings can fly through her cage of anger or if they’re a crock of shit like everything else she ignores there.

And here are the first ten chapter hookers for Pigeon's story:

* I hate this f %*@# year.

* Mile one is nothing.

* The more campers return, the more I feel alone.

* The scent of freshly mown grass relieves the puke welling in my belly.

* It’s torture walking into the auditorium, trying to find a seat, knowing I don’t want to sit by anyone in here.

* I don't want to belong.

* Lunch goes down as smoothly as it came up this morning, only with a slightly better after taste.

* Shit on a shingle I believe is the correct term for this meal.

* The thrill of payback runs a marathon through my insides.

* “Every year there’s some kind of trivia challenge, right?”

Did I hook you?

Now hop around and check out the other hookers on display :)

7 x 7

49! Anyone else have flash backs of multiplication around the world?

Thanks to the great Nick Wilford at Scattergun Scribblings  I've been tagged with the 7 x 7 Link Award.

Thank you Nick! Go check out his 7 awesome posts and learn about his beautiful family, his attempt at taking on McDonalds as a ten year old, and read some of his brilliant short stories/flash fiction. Now, on to reading more of my blah, blah, blah, I mean poignant thoughts :)

RULE #1: Tell everyone something that no one else knows about you.

I swear like a m*#^*@ f*%@*&! Not in front of my children, not when I'm in a school building, and not around my mother, but everywhere else. Sadly, I take a little pride in how well I can sling an f-bomb or weave obscenities into any situation, especially when I leave people giggling. I'd much rather swear in a humorous situation than a pissed off one, but I excel at that as well. My new WiP has a character who swears A LOT so she's a ton of fun to write. I'm concerned with how many cuss words I'm going to have to remove at some point. But it's sure fun to let Pigeon's mouth fly :)

RULE #2: Link to one of the posts that I personally think best fits the following categories.

Most Beautiful: For April's A to Z challenge, I had so much fun finding beautiful pictures of places around the world for each letter. This post is from a family trip to the Big Island of Hawaii so the memories make it the most beautiful for me.

Most Helpful: I suppose it could have been my 100th post where I offered free critiques? Or maybe the Best of the Best post on pitches and loglines...

Most Popular: Back in February, Cassie and I hosted the  Is it Getting HOT in Here? Blog Hop and it was a ton of fun!

Most Controversial: I don't have one of these. I guess my post on comparative titles for ISWG had a few people commenting about not needing comparative titles, but that's as controversial as I get :)

Most Surprisingly Successful: I was laughing at myself as I wrote my Squirrel post, and luckily, others laughed along with me.

Most Underrated: My sixth blog post, on Thanksgiving, it's my first thank you to the writing community. The message could be posted every day :)

Most Pride Worthy: Easily my first blog post. I was against blogging, thinking it was like an online diary for people arrogant enough to think others will want to read what's inside their heads. Yeah, that sounds really bad when I type it out, but I just didn't think I fit into the online community. And we all know how wrong I was about what goes on here. No arrogance, no dear-diaries, just help and support and a lot of fun! THANK YOU ALL!!!!

And thanks again, Nick, this award is an interesting one, makes you review your blogging with an introspective eye! Pretty cool :)

WOOHOO!

Fireworks
No, these fireworks aren't for the fourth of July, they're for one of the Falling For Fiction ladies.

JADE has signed with Cuirosity Quills!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And since it's impossible to convey how exciting this is, I'll try with an

OMG!
Soooooooooooooo
AWESOME!

Firework
Colorful Fireworks

Thanks to Sharon Bayliss and Krystal Wade's Contest in May: The Wilde Fire Contest, Jade has the exciting news of announcing her New Adult Urban Fantasy Novel SAMSARA which will be published this year by Curiosity Quills.

SAMSARA

Loka has died. Again.

For the seventeenth time.

Each reincarnation cloaks the previous, and Loka never remembers her past, who she truly is. Not that it would help. Loka believes she's human... she’s mistaken.

Her Samsara: the perpetual journey of suffering and never knowing who she is, has changed. Hidden deep in her rolodex of memories lurks darkness and power, and her new rainbow eyes sees things which should only exist in Hindu fables.

Loka is informed she is a deity with more personalities than a schizophrenic, and has been forced on a path to unlock who she truly is. With strange power tingling in her limbs, and tattoos that burn with bloodfire, the only help Loka receives is from her douche-of-a-celestial-guide who speaks in cryptic circles, and the mysterious and frightful half-beast, half-man, Shankara. He is as terrifying and deadly as an assassin, but despite Shankara’s passion to kill, Loka falls in love. As their bond increases, he reveals a dark secret:

Loka’s power is so great it could kill her and every soul alive if it isn’t harnessed correctly... And once she figures out the truth, she has one raging battle to fight. Brahma, the God of Creation, wants what swims in her veins, and he’ll stop at nothing to get it.

Sounds pretty amazing, right?! It is! The descriptions, the intensity, the concept, the voice--INCREDIBLE! Can't wait to hold this in my hands! Hopefully a signed copy ;) ;) ;)

Here's the talented, brilliant, spunky, adorable, lovely, funny, on the other-side-
of-this-world, soon-to-be-published-author Jade :)

Check out her blog Dream, Write, Publish, follow her on Twitter, or find her over at Falling For FictionMore information will follow when the book inches closer to the release date.

And here's some more fireworks for Jade and everyone celebrating today :)

Happy 4th of July

IWSG--Lessons Learned

I've been waiting for that spark--the idea to spin my imagination off into another world--to start writing something new. While I waited, I edited My Protector, and edited, and edited, and edited, still anticipating a dream or a nightmare or something to spur me in a new direction.

I have started a new story and am in love with writing again. But not after an idea hit me. It came on the wake of a rejection. The emotions from that response sent me to my keyboard and Pigeon was born.

I've learned a lot from My Protector, but it needs to sit in a time out for a while. I may come back to Eri's story in the future. Right now, it's Pigeon's turn.

My insecurity as a writer is showing itself as lessons learned:
Lesson 1--knowing when to say when
Lesson 2--the time spent editing keeps me from writing any of that crappy stuff in my new WiP
Lesson 3--writing is a journey and loving where it takes me is a gift

I wish you the joy of story telling and the love of following your imagination--
happy writing :)
