“I guess I’m in
awe.” His grin returned with his taunt. “Seriously though, I think you have
something I don’t. As much as I hate to admit it, I think you could fight me
with your eyes closed and still take me down.” He ditched his sword behind our
rock. “And if you ever tell anyone I said that, I’ll tell them that you kissed Smith!”
Finnley raced off toward home laughing.
I caught up to him
at the usual corner, the spot where my road met the main path to school. I was
out of breath. He beamed.
“At least I know I
will always be faster than you.” He elbowed me, making my ribs hurt along with
my tired lungs.
“All right then Speedster,
I’ll see you tomorrow morning before school. I hope you have dreams about me
beating you in a sword fight!”
That time I ran
off first.
When I approached
my house, I spotted someone standing on my front porch.
“Jen? Hey! What’s
up?” I asked before glancing over my shoulder to see if Finnley was out of
sight.
And now I pass the Lucky 7 Meme onto
I love hydrangeas, too. :)
