7 x 7

49! Anyone else have flash backs of multiplication around the world?

Thanks to the great Nick Wilford at Scattergun Scribblings  I've been tagged with the 7 x 7 Link Award.

Thank you Nick! Go check out his 7 awesome posts and learn about his beautiful family, his attempt at taking on McDonalds as a ten year old, and read some of his brilliant short stories/flash fiction. Now, on to reading more of my blah, blah, blah, I mean poignant thoughts :)

RULE #1: Tell everyone something that no one else knows about you.

I swear like a m*#^*@ f*%@*&! Not in front of my children, not when I'm in a school building, and not around my mother, but everywhere else. Sadly, I take a little pride in how well I can sling an f-bomb or weave obscenities into any situation, especially when I leave people giggling. I'd much rather swear in a humorous situation than a pissed off one, but I excel at that as well. My new WiP has a character who swears A LOT so she's a ton of fun to write. I'm concerned with how many cuss words I'm going to have to remove at some point. But it's sure fun to let Pigeon's mouth fly :)

RULE #2: Link to one of the posts that I personally think best fits the following categories.

Most Beautiful: For April's A to Z challenge, I had so much fun finding beautiful pictures of places around the world for each letter. This post is from a family trip to the Big Island of Hawaii so the memories make it the most beautiful for me.

Most Helpful: I suppose it could have been my 100th post where I offered free critiques? Or maybe the Best of the Best post on pitches and loglines...

Most Popular: Back in February, Cassie and I hosted the  Is it Getting HOT in Here? Blog Hop and it was a ton of fun!

Most Controversial: I don't have one of these. I guess my post on comparative titles for ISWG had a few people commenting about not needing comparative titles, but that's as controversial as I get :)

Most Surprisingly Successful: I was laughing at myself as I wrote my Squirrel post, and luckily, others laughed along with me.

Most Underrated: My sixth blog post, on Thanksgiving, it's my first thank you to the writing community. The message could be posted every day :)

Most Pride Worthy: Easily my first blog post. I was against blogging, thinking it was like an online diary for people arrogant enough to think others will want to read what's inside their heads. Yeah, that sounds really bad when I type it out, but I just didn't think I fit into the online community. And we all know how wrong I was about what goes on here. No arrogance, no dear-diaries, just help and support and a lot of fun! THANK YOU ALL!!!!

And thanks again, Nick, this award is an interesting one, makes you review your blogging with an introspective eye! Pretty cool :)

  2. Funny.

I don't swear a lot out loud, but I do in my head.

  3. What?? You swear??? No way. ;)

And I loved your Squirrel post. It's perfect to how I feel about the internet and it's distractions. :)

  5. I did not imagine you as a potty mouth. I guess I know better now :)

  6. Thank you! By the way, I totally love profanity and I use it all the time. Not in places and around people I shouldn't but a lot. You sound just like me. Hee hee hee.

  7. Aw, thanks Hope! Now I have to go and do some reading--those posts sound like awesomesauce. I've personally always been a fan of creative expletives, but I tend to go for the Joss Whedon/Serenity variety. (Because who doesn't want to call someone a "Cow Sucking Impatient Buddha" or "Motherless Goat of an Inbred Sack of Meat" in Mandarin?)

  8. Wow! Love this award. Thank you so much.

I cuss like a sailor too. Not proud of it, and I'm trying to break that habit.

How funny you were against blogging when you started. You've come quite a long way!

  9. I love that you swear! I was amazing in high school! I think every other word was blue. If I'm not careful, it comes back pretty easily and slips out pretty readily. Since I'm around children at school and at home, I need to keep the cuss words on the down low!

  10. "I was against blogging, thinking it was like an online diary for people arrogant enough to think others will want to read what's inside their heads. Yeah, that sounds really bad when I type it out..." LOL! I'm dying here. Really. SO FUNNY! (I thought the same thing.)

  11. I love Emily's comment - I was about to say pretty much the same thing.

I also swear all the time - it's awful.

    What a fun post!

  12. Oh wow! Thank you, Hope! I need to read all those posts when I'm at my desk, not on my phone. I did this award once & remember it being fun. I'll have to give it another go since its been awhile & I have a lot more posts to choose from.

Very funny about the swearing! I'm that way, too, & put quite a bit of it in my book, yet when it came time for revisions, the only words my pub asked me to remove we're Jesus & Christ. Go figure!

  14. I had the same blogging resistance issues. I told an agent at a conference, "Who gives a crap that I had toast for breakfast?" Funny, she didn't sign me. Hmmm.

  15. Glad you enjoyed the award! I'll have to check out your posts. I wouldn't have thought it about the swearing too... but I like that it's done in a creative way that makes people laugh!

  16. I LOVE swearing as well :) There's something so satisfying about it! I swear a lot at work, only to myself of course, but my colleagues who share the office have the pleasure of hearing it :P
