Around the World in 26 Letters--London

Honestly, I've never really wanted to go to London. It seems so much the same climate as Washington, just with slightly different food and a bunch of English accents I can't understand too well, so the draw has never been there for me. My dad's side of the family has a Markham Crest from England, apparently there's some lineage reaching to a duke or something, so I guess I should want to check out a piece of my ancestry as well if I ever go. And until recently, most English actors have been mediocre to watch for two hours at best. Now that Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Daniel Craig, and James McAvoy have made it on my radar, maybe a trip across the pond would be worth the effort :)

I suppose I could ride a double-decker

over to the London Bridge,

check out the London Eye,

see Westminster Palace and Big Ben,

maybe Buckingham Palace,

and the Tower of London,

if I had to :)

Would you go? Have you been?

  1. I grew up in England until I was eleven (and then I moved to North America). I haven't been to London in decades. Back then, it was just the place my father worked. It wasn't cool like, say, Disney World. :)

  8. London is at the top of my list. My hubby and I (if we ever become rich and famous) would love to live in England for a year and visit all the surrounding countries. Oh, and Book 2 of TGT is set in London.

I would love to go again.

  13. I would love to travel and see more of our own country first, and maybe venture out more someday. My genealogy takes me to England, France, Germany, Spain and one back in the 1200s to Italy. What a wonderful opportunity to find some old grave sites. I understand the Lanier castle still stands with Lanier engraved in a stone on the wall near the door. What great adventures could be written there? I'm just A to Z-ing it. Have a great weekend.
